My name is Anusha Vamsee, mother of two lovely children and based out of Chennai, India. Behind mysuccessful crafting career, is an understanding and supportive husband. By profession, I have been an internal auditor and controls specialist for 13 years, however paper crafting is my hobby and passion since childhood, which I have slowly developed into a small brand with the support of my family and friends. Always dreamt of making big in paper crafts and striving every day to get there.
1. When you actually articulated your passion and start chasing it?
Paper crafting has been my favourite hobby and passion since my childhood. I had been making greeting cards for friends in school and college. All I learnt was from reading in landmark stores and experimenting on my own (pre-google days where internet was not so much accessible).
However after I learnt more about paper crafts, there was still a struggle to find the right craft tools in India back then in 2009. Soon after my wedding, my husband found a paper crafter in Chennai and gifted me a course on professional punch craft. It is after that, that my passion moved to another level and I also discovered places to purchase craft materials in India. I started researching more and learnt a lot of paper craft techniques. I started doing more professional cards and learnt new skills and started chasing it seriously since 5 years ago.
2. What kind of products do you sell?
Handmade, customized greeting cards, scrapbooks, gift boxes, albums, envelopes, party decor props, posters, gift hampers and many more customized to your requirements.
3. What is your best selling product till now?
Handmade envelopes, customized albums & scrapbooks.
- What challenges were you facing and what motivated you to solve them?
Awareness of handmade products for gifting is very less and consequently getting more orders is quite challenging. But the joy in receiving handmade handwritten cards/notes is immeasurable and i felt people should experience it, to be able to appreciate it. I loved gifting cards to my dear ones since childhood and for the love of my passion, I restarted making cards and gifting it for friends’ birthdays, farewell of collegues and sending seasons Greetings to near and dear ones.
They cherished those cards as much as I do abd they shared their experience with others and helped spread the word. Making big in my crafting journey is something I always felt was mycalling. Therefore it motivates me everyday to make more and spread more awareness to combat this challenge.
- What’s one change you should make right now to help you get closer to your success?
Be consistent, enhance branding and marketing.
6. What mistakes have you made along the way?
My mistakes have taught me valuable lessons to feed forward. Not being active on social media and not posting content regularly (although I created them) has been a biggest setback. But now I realised that consistency is the key and from there on, there is no looking back.
7. If you could start all over again, what would you do differently?
I am happy with how things have shaped up with me, considering that I was managing home, kids and work till now. Maybe given a chance, I would have done some more marketing and branding earlier in time.
8. What is the best advice you can give?
Be consistent, be passionate and don’t give up on ur dreams. Success does not come overnight, so be patient.
Never be afraid of trying new things. Reset ur priorities, put plans to paper, thoughts to actions and success will eventually kick in..
